The water trough de-icer has a 1250-watt design with a built-in thermostat that automatically engages when the water temperature nears freezing, conserving energy draw and needing no outside attention from you to keep operating. Designed to float atop the water in your tank and prevent surface ice before it starts, the de-icer is safe for use in plastic containers as well as metal. For added versatility remove the float and use it as a submersible de-icer. An anti-chew sheath protects the cord from curious critters' teeth.
