- Challenge: combine single-coils + humbucker in Strat without compromising tone or hum-canceling; and optimize pot values.Accomplish all three easily with our HSS Auto-Split kit, and customize the tone controls to boot:Auto-split the humbucker in the 2-position - combining only one coil with the middle pickup. Retains hum-canceling (pickups permitting), and most-closely approximates Strat’s 2-position tone. Our narrow 5-way superswitch does this automatically.Pot values? Don’t compromise. 500k volume pot lets the humbucker sound right, but adding a resistor in the other positions drops it to 250k so the other positions sound great.And our narrow superswitch allows us to customize the tone controls! Different pot and cap values for each tone control optimizes them for their respective positions: Gibson values for the “Gibson” position (1), and Fender values for the “Fender” positions (2/3/4/5).
