The balls themselves are still made of the same material and are identical to when we first introduced the product all those years ago. Each version of plugs replaced the versions before. V3 and V4 were patented. For reference as we get asked this question from customers trying to make a buying decision. The Waters Sports Lighted bocce that you see advertised elsewhere online, is not our product.It uses the V1 plugs, we discontinued as you can see above, many years ago. That old design V1 plug is Flashing onlyand has none of the features of our Rev V4 plugs. P Patent # US20130029794 A1 added all these features atented V4 design . exclusive to PLAYABOULE Old V1 design discontinued many years ago has none of the following features Recessed push button external switch. So it won't bump off when the ball hits the ground. Old discontinued V1 needs to screw in and out to off and on Plug stays in the ball except to change the batteries Plug has secondary molding to plug that seals to ball so is sand, grit and water resistant. Built in to the switch both Flash OR Non Flash LED function. Simple fast tool less battery change. No screwdriver needed. New design larger size 50mm ( 2" dia ) target ball with V4 plug. This set includes ALL of the following : Set of 8 x 85mm ( 3.3" dia ) External Switch V4 Plug Glo lighted bocce balls. Press once for Flashing press again for Static Glo, press once more to turn off. 2 Glow Green, 2 Glow Blue, 2 Glow Red, 2 Glow Yellow 1 x 50mm (2 inch dia) Glow White jack (pallina). Press once for Flashing press again for Static Glo, press once more to turn off. Nylon carry case with webbing handle, clear plastic lid. Foam liner to keep the balls in place. 1 set of batteries are preinstalled. Simply pull the plastic tab to activate. Batteries are easily replaceable. Instructions and rules of play Measuring string and Tape measure The balls are made of a high quality, durable hard plastic material, with the Playaboule logo molded in. Because the balls are translucent the LED light can shine through making the balls flash and glow in the dark. They can be easily seen in the dark from more than 100ft away. Simply press the recessed button to turn the light on/off to activate in flash mode or press again for non flash. The balls have a 1 year warranty against breakage or cracking. Not covered of course is hitting something harder and than the ball is, like cement, rocks, etc. Corrosion, modifications or foreign material entering the plug enclosure are NOT covered. Batteries are a consumable product and carry no warranty. Spare or replacement plugs and batteries are available here. CLICK Replaceable Alkaline batteries. Fresh batteries can last for more than 15 hours of typical playing times. We designed these balls as a solid sphere then drilled and threaded a hole in the side for the LED plug. Being solid, these balls are almost unbreakable.!!! You can crash the balls together without fear of damaging the balls or the LED components. Great recreational set and perfect for evening play! At the beach, camping, back yard, etc. When the sun goes down don't stop playing, START playing with this glo bocce ball set.This is a good amount of heft even for the most aggressive player and has the extra advantage that the balls will not drop dead in very soft sand like a regular bocce ball does.
