Sobre este producto
  • At the end of World War I in 1918, the Dual Monarchy of Austria-Hungary collapsed and its individual regions declared independence, formed their own states or were attributed to existing nations. The name “German-Austria” was used for the First Austrian Republic from 1918 to 1919. Its capital was Vienna. The old Krone currency, which was already used at the time o1 the Dual Monarchy, initially continued to be the currency of the Republic of German-Austria. It was subdivided into 100 Heller. This banknote was printed by the Austro-Hungarian Bank during the time of the Dual Monarchy, issued for the first time in J902. The name of the currency was mentioned in all 9 languages of the different ethnic groups of the empire: Czech: KORUN, Polish: KORON, Ukrainian: KOPOH, Italian: CORONE, Slovenian: KRON, Croatian: KRUNA, Serbian: KPYHA, Romanian: COROANE and German: KRONEN. After the dissolution of this territorially largest European empire of its time, subsequent to World War I, the predominantly German-populated areas proclaimed to temporarily call themselves “German-Austria”. This term has been overprinted in red color on the banknotes in 1919. Even after being ratified as the First Republic of Austria these banknotes were still in use until 1925, when the Schilling replaced the Krone.
