While it has 2 red serial numbers, it is a bank "remainder" that was not signed or put into circulation, which is why it still remains in PRISTINE CONDITION!! Not one fold, tear, split, pinhole or mark! 1917 was a tumultuous year in Costa Rica history - beginning that year there were a number of coups and counter-coups which led to the re-establishment of a democratic government in 1919. This historic gem portrays the second president of the country, José Rafael Gallegos, on the colorful front and a nude Mercury seated on a dynamo on the deep green back. Exquisite engraving!
