- The Delid-Die-Mate Intel 13th Gen is a tool specically designed for removing the heat spreader on Intel processors for socket LGA1700, a process commonly known as "delidding". Delidding involves removing the heat spreader to enable direct cooling of the CPU dies through the "Direct Die" method. In this method, the CPU cooler is mounted directly onto the CPU dies and the I/O die of the processor, bypassing the heat spreader. This allows for optimized heat transfer from the dies to the CPU cooler. The purpose of delidding and using the Direct Die method on Intel processors is to improve cooling performance. Delidding is typically done to replace the thermal interface material (TIM) between the CPU die and the heatspreader with high-quality thermal compound or liquid metal.
